Arbutus Mural: Lauren Brevner + James Harry

By Art Documentation, Uncategorized
I was on vacation in Vancouver, walking to a shop to pick up a battery for a camera accessory, when I came upon Lauren Brevner and James Harry working on this mural. It’s at the corner of West Broadway and Arbutus, along the Arbutus Greenway bicycle path. I had to stop to admire the image and ended up in a chat with the artists and their assistants Aglaiya and Thomas. I offered to take some shots to document their work in progress, and the City of Vancouver contacted me afterward to license the images as documentation for their mural and anti-graffiti program, as well as promotion for the artists.
Be sure to check out their websites and their work; they are both extremely skilled artists individually and their collaborative pieces draw upon their respective Japanese Canadian and Squamish cultural backgrounds, with a modern flair and graphic style I truly appreciate.

Mamie Clafoutis Boulangerie

By Food, Photo
This artisanal french bakery started in Montreal in 2008 and now has nine locations, one of which is in Ottawa. Friends and amazingly talented designers at Baboon Creation were the original creators of the Mamie Clafoutis brand and website, and they reached out to me to take care of the photography side of things. They have since rebranded and changed out the photography after hiring someone in-house to take care of things, but I am still proud of the work we did.

Milonga at the Rialto

A milonga is an event where people dance Argentine tango. I was asked by Montreal dancer and instructor Melina Mistral to document one such event at Théâtre Rialto.
